Circe

By Madeline Miller

OVERVIEW

Circe is born to the god of the sun and Titan, Helios. She is born with neither the powers and strength of her father nor the divine beauty of her mother. From the moment she was born, her parents and all those around her treated her poorly.

As Circe grows up, she discovers a unique gift of her own… Witchcraft! The more her powers grow, the more the gods around her become threatened until she is banished to the distant island of Aiaia. More of a gift than a curse, her exile only allows her the time to harness her powers. When the legendary warrior Odysseus arrives on the island, Circe’s world changes forever.

MY THOUGHTS

Another beautifully written book by Madeline Miller! This book is a powerful example of the strength and determination of women. Through all of her hardships, Circe becomes strong and resilient, taking control of her own life and becoming a hero and legend in her own right!

Madeline Miller’s descriptions in this book are calming and comforting to read. My heart ached for Circe all the way through this book and I fell in love with her character. This is a clear choice for anyone wanting to read a gripping tale with a strong and unstoppable female lead.
