OVERVIEW
In an unsuspecting retirement village, four elderly friends form a club investigating unsolved murders. Their meetings usually involve tea, cake and a case file that even the police have forgotten. However, when a shocking and brutal murder happens on their doorstep, the Thursday Murder Club can’t help but try to catch the killer.

MY THOUGHTS
There are lots of good elements to the plot of this book. Richard Osman weaves lots of twists and turns into the plot and the unique choice of characters adds an interesting perspective. I liked the idea of the nosy, elderly gang working outside of the police to find clues and solve the murder. Several funny situations occur because of this dynamic.
However, the writing style of this book just wasn’t for me. There was SO much fluff and extra waffle that slowed down the pace of the book. By the time you have sat through the pages of extra detail, you had forgotten what was actually going on. Unfortunately, this was a book I COULD put down… and leave for several days. By the end, I felt like I had to force myself to finish it.
If you like mellow books, you may find this book more enjoyable than I did. I personally prefer something with a bit more pace and life.
